Navdanya is the Indian-based NGO founded by Dr. Vandana Shiva to promote biodiversity conservation, organic farming, the rights of farmers, and the process of seed saving.
Shout out for support of two upcoming events: At Sowing the Seeds of Resistance, Dr. Vandana Shiva will present 30 years of Navdanya Institute's research initiatives and community engagement – sharing stories of communities re-claiming seed sovereignty, re-building the commons, and regenerating local knowledge. At Water is Life Dr. Vandana Shiva will share insights into movements around the globe defending the right to Water, joined by fellow Water defenders Maude Barlow, Chief Leslee White-Eye and Dr. Shiv Chopra. This second event will be webcast live.

To keep these two events free to attendees, we are seeking support to cover costs associated with these impactful and educational events and to raise money to donate to the Navdanya Institute.

"My Mothers Day wish? For every "happy Mother's Day" I receive as a compliment a corresponding donation of $5-$10 is made toward achieving good sanitation (no poisons in our food) and Peace (agroecology based economies) as was the intention of the original Mother's Day in 1858" Jodi Koberinski

"In those reports, we don't usually publish the brand names because we're looking at overall compliance of the system," Aline Dmitri Deputy, CFIA deputy chief food safety officer, told CBC News on Thursday. "If one of the samples had been found to be positive, non-compliant and a health and safety risk, we would indicate that in the report." She said if an item were identified for recall, the brand would be named.

1.3% of 3,188 food products tested by CFIA had glyphosate residues above acceptable limit
Nearly 30 per cent of the about 3,200 food products tested by Canada's food regulator had traces of the controversial herbicide glyphosate, with 1.3 per cent of items like fruits, vegetables and infant foods containing residue levels above the acceptable limits.

"NFU President is right. Reports indicate that in 1992 Canadian food export amounted to $2 billion, in 2012 it increased to $40 billion, and in 2016 to $50 billion. But the family farm incomes remained the same or less than in 1992. Who made the extra money? Not the family farms but factory farm operations employing unsafe inputs of hormones, antibiotics, slaughterhouse wastes, pesticides and GMOs." Shiv Chopra
'Dismally low' farm incomes need to improve: National Farmers Union president
Food production in Canada is too focused on large operations and exporting when it should be concerned with feeding Canadians, says Jan Slomp, president of the National Farmers Union, who was on P.E.I. Tuesday to take part in the organization's district convention.
